Therapy for Teachers
I spent a decade in public education, so I know from first-hand experience that teaching is one of the most difficult, stressful, and emotionally demanding jobs in the world.
The average classroom teacher makes more than 1,500 decisions every school day. Add in all the stressors of keeping up with the constantly changing educational system and adapting to a host of exhausting new challenges due to the pandemic, it is very easy to find yourself in burnout.
I’m here to support your wellness and mental health needs.

Heart pounding, palms sweating, you’re exhausted. You’re sure you’re going to get fired and that your lessons won’t go well. Anxiety isn’t just being a little nervous. It’s feeling overwhelmed by intrusive thoughts and symptoms you can’t control. It’s worrying too much about everything. It’s judging yourself negatively all the time. Anxiety sucks. It's awful. And it’s real. Through therapy, you'll gain skills to combat your anxiety as well as challenge that tendency to jump to only negative conclusions.

If you’re anything like I was as a teacher, you're a pro at telling everyone "yes" and over-committing yourself. You would never dream of telling someone "no" for fear of letting someone down. You have a hard time asking for help. You compare yourself to other teachers in the building. You're hard on yourself, you have high expectations of yourself, and falling short isn't an option. It’s time to fix that. It’s time to have a little self-compassion and learn how to say "no" to others and "yes" to yourself.

You can love teaching and still be tired. You can love teaching and still need breaks. You can love teaching and still be burnt out. You can love teaching and still want to quit. Teaching is REALLY hard. Remember, you are good enough. It’s okay if you’re not feeling it right now. It’s time to put your mental health first. Maybe that means reconnecting to your “why.” Maybe it means considering a new career. Let’s talk it out.

Do you ever look at your life and think, “this is fine, I guess.” There’s nothing is terribly negative or awful, but you just don't feel whole, fulfilled, satisfied - however, you'd describe it. I can help you focus on your values, what's meaningful to you, and assist with moving you towards a life that works for you.
-
Let me guess, you are the type of person that has ridiculously high expectations of yourself. You’re the type that HAS to get things right, and it has to be on the first try, or else you're consumed by feelings of failure and fears of rejection. I’m here to help you recognize perfectionism, identify where it stems from, and make a plan to deliberately avoid it.
